We are inspired.

We know this can be done because we look to our colleagues on the east coast. OEORMD.ORG is inspired by the SHARE and the REMEDY program. The SHARE program published the project experience in 2014.

The SHARE program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine was inspired by the REMEDY program that was founded at Yale University School of Medicine in 1991. Both programs aim to address shortages of medical supplies in developing countries by donating surplus and unused instruments from US hospitals. The SHARE chapter at Johns Hopkins was founded with the same goals, with Dr. Richard Redett serving as its founder and lead doctor.

The goal of building and improving on the SHARE and REMEDY programs seems to be to create a platform that provides more real-time choices in equipment to recipients, similar to an online shopping experience. By doing so, it may provide greater transparency and control for recipients in selecting the medical supplies they need, leading to more efficient and effective use of resources. This approach could potentially lead to better health outcomes for patients and improved access to medical supplies in developing countries.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do. Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
